I have enjoyed and learned an abundance of information from this course that will not only help me as I complete my degree, but also in my current career. While all of the course has been enjoyable and the right amount of challenging the assignment that impacted me in the most positive was was the article review from unit 7. I read an article that spoke on the importance of not just understanding the social determinants of health, but the importance of addressing them during health care encounters. I am currently a pediatric nurse for an FQHC in Pensacola the article I read gave me a lot of information that I will be able to carrying into my job to help improve our company and ultimately the way we provide patient care. While we are required to collect particular demographic and SDOH information we only have minimal information on resources available to help these patients and their parents to overcome these determinants. The article spoke on the need to have these resources available and I plan to work on this within my own office.
